I appreciate the bold moves, but ultimately I think this is a terrible idea. Twitter has shown a willingness to put a knife in the back of 3rd party developers - wants to prevent them from shutting off access completely? Furthermore, Gross is boldly betting that advertising via Twitter apps can be successful. I’m not so sure - why use a mobile twitter app with ads when you can use one without ads?
Also - happiest man in Silicon Valley right now? Loic Le Meur, who’s Seesmic finally has a chance for an outcome other than death by attrition.
